Bakari Hicks was indicted on three counts of Sodomy in the First Degree on February 11, 2010. Bakari faced a penalty of 20 years to Life in prison on each charge.

The charges stemmed from allegations that he molested a child under eight years old repeatedly at Count It All Joy Daycare in Louisville between 2007 and 2009. The case received widespread media attention when the charges were initiated.

The trial commenced on Monday, May 23, 2011 and concluded on May 26, 2011. Bakari Hicks was found not guilty of all charges. The jury deliberated for one hour before reaching a unanimous decision to acquit Bakari Hicks.
